ANDERSON, Ind. - The Transylvania Men's Basketball team dropped their 3rd HCAC contest of the season on Saturday against Anderson. The Pioneers fell to 11-3 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference after losing to the Ravens 104-77.
Three different Pioneers reached double-figures.
Jaylan Green led the team with 19 points, while
Hunter Penn finished 8-11 for 16 points while grabbing 6 rebounds.
Colby Napier finished with 10 points.
Up 19-14, Anderson went on a 9-0 run to extend their lead to 14. Transylvania cut the deficit to 9 with 6:08 remaining, and a minute later go 5 (29-34). The Ravens countered with a 5-0 run and outscored Transy 13-7 heading into the half.
AU shot 63.3% (19-30 FG) in the second half to extend their lead late into the game.
Transylvania brought the deficit down to 12 points with under 13 minutes to play, but Anderson stayed hot throughout the half and extended their lead back to over 20 points just a few minutes later.
Transylvania moves to second place in the HCAC standings at 11-3 in conference play and are one game ahead of Manchester. The Pioneers will look to bounce back this upcoming Wednesday at 6 PM when they taken on Bluffton University. The Pioneers won their matchup over the Beavers earlier this season, 89-76.
