LEXINGTON - The Transylvania Men's Basketball team bounced back on Wednesday night, defeating Bluffton University 106-72. 15 different Pioneers saw action in the win.
After suffering their third conference loss of the season this past Saturday, Transylvania bounced back with their most points scored in regulation this season. The 106 points is the first time the Pioneers have broken 100 points in regulation since January 22nd, 2020 when they defeated Mount St. Joseph 100-84.
The win improves Transylvania's record to 17-5, 12-3 with just three games remaining. The Pioneers currently sit in 2nd place in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
The Pioneer offense started hot, using a 14-2 run to shift momentum to their side early. Bluffton cut the deficit to 24-18 midway through the half, but Transy used a 10-2 run to distance themselves from a Beaver comeback. Transy's 56.67% first half shooting was good for 56 points.
The offense didn't slow down in the second half. TU again shot over 50%, this time 54.05% for 50 points in the second half. The Pioneer bench accounted for 53 of the 106 points. Transy finished 41-74 from the floor, which is the most field goals the Pioneers have scored in a game this season.
Matthew Teague led Transy in scoring with 16 points off 7-12 shooting.
Jaylan Green continued his streak of reaching double-figures in every game this season after adding 13 points.
Zach Stahlman finished 5-6 from the floor and 3-4 from three point range for 13 points. 14 different Pioneers scored in the win.
Hunter Penn finished with a game high 9 rebounds.

Transy is now 13-5 all time vs. Bluffton, winning the last 7 matchups.
Up next: Transylvania faces Manchester this Saturday at 3 PM. The Pioneers defeated the Spartans in double overtime earlier this season.
