LEXINGTON - The Transylvania Men's Basketball team split the season series with Manchester after suffering a 83-91 loss to move to 17-6, 12-4 on the season.

In a game that saw 9 lead changes and 74 free throws between the two teams, the Pioneers couldn't overcome Manchester's 57% second half three point shooting performance.

After being down 18-27 with 6:46 to go in the first half, Transy strung together an 8-0 run to cut the deficit to 1 point, and eventually took the lead 30-29 with under 2 minutes left in the half. The Spartans took the 35-34 lead into the half after Bryant Smith was fouled and sank both free throws with just 5 seconds left.

Both teams would get into foul trouble early in the second half, reaching the double bonus before the 10 minute mark. The fouls would haunt Transy as Manchester would finish 30-48 on free throws while the Pioneers were 16-26.

Transy would keep the game close throughout the final 20 minutes, but would not retake the lead in the second half. The Spartans hit momentum stopping three point shots while tacking on 24 second half free throws to get the 8 point win.

Four different Pioneers scored double-figures in the loss. Jaylan Green and Matthew Teague both finished with 16 points and 5 rebounds. Zach Stahlman finished with 14 points on 4-8 shooting from three point range. Simon Smith added 13 points and 7 rebounds. Hunter Penn finished one point shy of a double-double. He led all players with 10 rebounds.
