BLUFFTON, OHIO - Transylvania University picked up their fourth HCAC victory on Saturday, defeating Bluffton on the road, 3-1. The opening half of the match saw physical and competitive play, with both teams looking for shot opportunities. Reece Heisel and Gus Dickman both found opportunities for shots, but missed their attempts early. Bluffton would land the first goal of the evening at the 15:26 mark.

Transylvania would have an opportunity to quickly respond with Heisel finding an open look a little over a minute later, but it would be saved by Bluffton. The Pioneers would remain aggressive in looking for their shot, and it paid off. JT Roden, assisted by McKay Wheatley, would score for Transy at 27:50.

Just over seven minutes later, Nathan White would score for the Pioneers, giving Transy a 2-1 lead at 34:04. Entering the second half, the Pioneers would continue to have their persistence pay off, as Dylan Barnes would score for Transy at 53:17, assisted by Cole Varela. The Pioneers would hold on for the victory, continuing to aggressively look for opportunities through the end of the match, taking two shot attempts in the final minute of play. Transy took 13 shots in the second half, to Bluffton's two.

Head Coach Ben Federici complimented his team's persistence with overcoming early adversity in the match.

"Solid performance from the guys," said Federici. "We had a bus issue and a delay to the game. Then we came back from being down an early goal, all while on the road. I'm really proud of how we competed and earned all three points tonight. We will enjoy it tonight and then get back to work to prepare for our last game of the regular season on Tuesday."

Up next for Transy is their regular season finale, traveling to Cincinnati to take on Mount St. Joseph on Tuesday, October 29th at 7 p.m.
