LEXINGTON, KY- Transylvania defeated Carthage, 15-5, at Pat Deacon Stadium.

The Pioneers were led by Charlie Horner, who scored four goals in the win, while Andrew Welch recorded a team-high three assists. Transylvania finished with 57 shots, including 37 on goal, along with 13 saves and 17 turnovers. The Pioneers also posted 23 clears and collected 28 ground balls.

Transylvania dug themselves a hole early in the first quarter as they gave up two goals. Andrew Welch put the Pioneers on the scoreboard to cut the deficit to 2-1. The visiting Firebirds were leading after 15 minutes, 2-1. 

Charlie Horner scored his first goal of the afternoon to tie the game at 2 apiece in the early second quarter. The Pioneers got their first lead on the afternoon by a goal Jack Miller scored his first goal. Seconds later,  Miller scored again to gave the Pioneers 4-2 lead. Welch scored his second goal to increase the lead 5-2. The Firebirds scored late in the half to make the halftime score 5-3.

Horner scored two goals during the third quarter to gave the Pioneers the 7-3 lead. However, the Firebirds scored a late goal  to make the score 7-4 after third quarters. Horner scored two early goals in the   fourth quarter to increase the lead to 9-4. The Pioneers were leading 11-4 in the final quarter from goals by Welch and Miller.  Two Pioneers scored their first goals on the afternoon from Jaxon Eldridge and Andrew Mazy to make the score 13-4. Noah Siler scored his first goal of the season to gave the Pioneers 14-4 lead late in the fourth. Grayson Pham scored the final goal for the Pioneers before the Firebirds scored late to make the final score 15-5. 

With the win, Transylvania improves to 7-2. The Pioneers return home on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, to face Hope College. Face-off is set for 4:00 p.m.
