Baseball Takes Weekend Series At Anderson

ANDERSON, IN - Transylvania took their weekend series with Anderson, winning the first two match ups on Saturday before falling to the Ravens in the third and final game of the weekend. 

Transylvania earned an 8–5 win over Anderson to open Saturday's double header at Don Brandon Field.

The Pioneers jumped out early with two runs in the first inning and added two more in both the third and fourth innings to build a 6–0 lead. Trevor Watkins and Chris Hedinger each delivered RBI plays in the third, while Nick Pietromonaco and Seita Shiratori added RBIs in the fourth. Transylvania added single runs in the sixth and eighth innings, highlighted by a solo home run from Kaden Ford to extend the lead to 8–0.

Anderson mounted a late rally with four runs in the eighth and one in the ninth, but the Pioneers held on to secure the win. Shiratori led the offense with two hits, two runs scored and an RBI, while Ford finished with two hits, including a home run, and two runs scored. Hedinger and Pietromonaco each added an RBI.

On the mound, Drew Bowles earned the win with a dominant outing, allowing no runs over seven innings while striking out 10. Luke Patton recorded the save, tossing 1.1 innings in relief.

Transylvania earned a 13–3 win over Anderson in the second game. After Anderson tied the game in the third inning, the Pioneers responded with a five-run fourth inning to take control. Chris Hedinger sparked the inning with a solo home run, while Kaden Ford added a two-RBI double and Brenton Alcorn contributed an RBI sacrifice fly.

Transylvania continued to add on, scoring a run in the fifth before breaking the game open in the sixth. Trevor Watkins delivered a two-RBI single and Hedinger followed with a two-run home run to extend the lead to 12–2. The Pioneers added an insurance run in the eighth inning to seal the victory. Hedinger led the offense with three hits, including two home runs, and three RBI, while Watkins added two RBI. Calvin Schubert recorded two hits and two RBI, and Max Finn finished with three hits.

On the mound, Giancarlo Gonzalez earned the win, allowing two runs over six innings. Cole Mischel closed the game with 1.1 scoreless innings of relief.

Transylvania fell to Anderson 13–1 in the final game of the weekend series on Sunday afternoon. Anderson took control early, scoring eight runs in the first inning to build a commanding lead. The Ravens added five more runs in the sixth to extend the advantage. Transylvania's lone run came in the fourth inning when Chris Hedinger delivered an RBI single to score Calvin Schubert.

Schubert led the Pioneers with two hits, while Hedinger recorded a hit and an RBI. Trevor Watkins and Seita Shiratori also added hits in the contest. Nathan Hale took the loss on the mound, while Logan Cobb provided five innings of relief with four strikeouts. Tristan Cooper added 0.2 innings in relief.

Transylvania moves to 13–7 overall and 6–1 in HCAC play.
