LEXINGTON, Ky. — Transylvania fell to Wittenberg, 18–3, on Wednesday night at Legends Field.
Wittenberg struck first with a run in the opening inning and continued to add on in the second, third and fourth to build a 9–3 advantage before breaking the game open with a nine-run fifth inning. The Tigers finished the night with 18 runs on 13 hits.
The Pioneers got on the board in the bottom of the fourth. With the bases loaded, Calvin Schubert delivered a bases-clearing double to center to bring Transylvania within 9–3. Schubert's double accounted for all three Pioneer RBIs on the evening.
Trevor Watkins went 1-for-2 and scored a run, while Baxter Tedesco and Max Finn each recorded a hit as Transylvania finished with four hits at the plate.
On the mound, Logan Cobb made the start for Transylvania, and Landen Broaddus, Jayson Ingles, Clark Tackett, Cole Mischel and Tyler Minton each worked in relief.
