LEXINGTON, Ky. — Transylvania dropped game one of its series against MSOE, 6–5, on Friday night at Legends Field.
MSOE struck early with two runs in the first inning and added three more in the fourth to take control. The Raiders tacked on an insurance run in the ninth, finishing with six runs on seven hits.
The Pioneers chipped away throughout the night, scoring once in the third, fifth, and seventh innings before rallying for two runs in the eighth to tie the game. Transylvania totaled five runs on nine hits in the contest.
Nick Pietromonaco led the way offensively, going 1-for-4 with two RBIs, including a two-run single with the bases loaded. Chris Hedinger added an RBI, while Ethan Dillon and Trevor Watkins each recorded two hits. Seita Shiratori reached base four times with two hits and two walks and swiped a bag, and Calvin Schubert added a hit and two stolen bases.
Drew Bowles made the start on the mound, working five innings and striking out eight. Kemper Dotson tossed two scoreless innings in relief, and Luke Patton added two innings with a pair of strikeouts.
