Colorado Springs, Colo. – Three members of the Transylvania triathlon team were named All-Americans by the Collegiate Triathlon Coaches Association on Thursday.

Freshman Charlotte Kumler was named a CTCA First Team All-American and was joined in collecting All-American honors by junior Grayson Bray and sophomore Delaney McPherson, who both were named CTCA Second Team All-Americans.

The Transylvania trio all finished in the top 10 of last weekend's USA Triathlon National Championships Division III Championship race.

Kumler, a freshman from Indianapolis, Indiana (University HS), took fourth in the national championships to record the second-highest finish by a Pioneer triathlete at the national championships in the program's four-year history. Bray, a junior from Alpharetta, Georgia (Northview HS), topped her ninth-place finish in 2019 with an eighth-place finish in her second national championship appearance. McPherson, a sophomore from Kansas City, Missouri (Staley HS), finished 10th in the nation in her first national championship appearance to earn All-American Second Team accolades.

This is the first All-American honor for each student-athlete; it also marks the first time in the four-year history of the Transylvania triathlon program that multiple Pioneers have earned All-American honors in the same season.

The All-American awards are given out annually by the CTCA following the conclusion of each collegiate triathlon season.

Under third-year head coach Sean McNulty, the Pioneers recorded their first-ever team finish at a national championships, taking fourth place as a team at the 2021 national championships in Tempe, Arizona.
