This weekend, the Triathlon team competed in the Beaver County Tri Cup in Pennsylvania. Head Coach Matthew Mohnacky says his team hit the ground running with training this season for their first race. Triathlon is described by the multidisciplinary nature of the sport, where swimming, cycling, and running are conducted consecutively in different events. NCAA triathletes race in a sprint distance draft race. The distances include: 750 m swim, 20K bike, and 5k run. Draft legal racing is a class of triathlon racing that permits riding the bike split in a peloton group pacing format. Coach Mohnacky said of the first race, "Toren Hartog kept a swift hold on her race and completed with a strong finish. Toren strived through the difficult run split and conquered the hills. Meanwhile, Grayson Bray expertly led her team as a team captain and transition specialist! Grayson only knows how to crush it! Finally, Eve Brunell competed with a fierce mindset and truly left it all on the course! As a swimmer, Eve bested this challenging swim course with precision. We are very proud of our athletes!"
