In Tempe, Arizona, the Pioneers competed in the Women's Collegiate Triathlon Championship for DIII hosted by Arizona State University. Junior Delaney McPherson finished on the podium in third place overall with a 1:14:36.5, with an impressive 21:55 5k time and a new personal best for the season.
Senior Grayson Bray finished with a 1:16:58.9 in 10th place overall beating her East Regional 5k time with a 22:02 to finish the race. After four years of competing as a Transy Triathlon student-athlete, she will go on to join the United States Marine Corp.
Sophomore Toren Hartog finished in 46th with a time of 1:32:17.2 with an impressive swim performance. Sophomore Eve Brunell also participated. Though she did not record a finish time, she had an impressive season and shined as a seasoned runner this year. The Pioneers finished seventh overall among the DIII national field.
"Each athlete dedicated a substantial effort to triathlon, and we could not be prouder to have them as our 2022 Transylvania Triathletes! Great work this season!" said Head Coach Matthew Mohnacky.
Junior Delaney McPherson was named a first team All-American and senior Grayson Bray was named a second team All-American by the College Triathlon Coaches Association for their performances.

"I am extremely proud of the dedication and hard work of Delaney and Grayson. This delineation of All American celebrates these characteristics," said Vice President of Athletics, Dr. Holly Sheilley.
