LEXINGTON, KY - Transylvania Volleyball has announced the addition of Sam Sterlitz as a Volunteer Assistant Coach.

Sterlitz joins the Pioneers with coaching and playing experience throughout the Lexington volleyball community. Since 2023, he has coached with Lexington United Volleyball, serving as the coach of the 17 2's team for the past two seasons. In the role, Sterlitz has helped plan and lead practices focused on technical and tactical development while working with athletes on hitting, blocking and defensive systems. He has also led positional training for middle blockers and was recognized as a Coach of the Month for his commitment to creating a competitive and enjoyable training environment.

Sterlitz also served as a program assistant with Lexington Catholic High School Girls Volleyball during the 2024-25 season. He assisted with practices, drills and in-game responsibilities while helping the program to a 33-5 record and state semifinal appearance.

While at the University of Kentucky, Sterlitz served as a practice player with the Kentucky Women's Volleyball program, training alongside the Division I program and helping simulate opponents during practices. He worked primarily as a blocker and hitter while gaining experience with high-level training and match preparation under Head Coach Craig Skinner. Sterlitz also worked Kentucky Volleyball summer camps, leading courts and teaching fundamentals to young athletes.

Sterlitz was also a member of the University of Kentucky Men's Club Volleyball program from 2021-25 and served as president during the 2023-24 season. As president, he oversaw program operations including scheduling, budgeting, travel coordination, practices, and tournaments.

Sterlitz earned his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Kentucky.
