Stone Work Has Been Named HCAC Offensive Athlete of the Week

CARMEL, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) men's soccer teams competed in week eight of the 2025 season. In two conference victories, Stone Work played a big role in the Transylvania offense. Work finished the week with two goals and an assist.

Offensive Player of the Week:
Stone Work (Honolulu, Hawai'i) Transylvania University | Striker | First Year - In a 2 win week for Transylvania, Stone Work stepped up and elevated the Pioneer offense. In the 5-0 shutout win against Mount St. Joseph, Stone Work contributed with both one goal and an assist. In the 2-0 win against Rose-Hulman, Work broke through and scored the opening goal in a very competitive match.

Defensive Player of the Week:
Jackson Holt (Elizabethtown, Ky.) Transylvania University | Goalkeeper | Senior - Jackson Holt had seven saves in a 5-0 win over Mount St. Joseph on Wednesday and eight saves in a 2-0 win over Rose-Hulman on Saturday. Holt had two shutouts in two HCAC victories for the Pioneers, performing the full 90:00 in both games.

Offensive Players:
  • Wesley Lewis (Fairfield, Ohio) Anderson University | Midfielder | Sophomore - Wesley Lewis provided 1 goal and 1 assist for 3 points as Anderson went 2-0 on the week. He scored the only goal in Anderson's 1-0 victory against Bluffton. Lewis then added an assist against Berea.
  • Tobore Takpor (Laplace, La.) Berea College | Forward | Junior - Tobore Takpor earned and scored the penalty against Anderson to bring the Mountaineers back into the contest. He had several shots in each game this week and increased his season goal tally to 6.
  • Leonardo Campos (Santiago, Chile) Bluffton University | Forward | Senior - Campos scored a goal and had an assist for three points as Bluffton downed Franklin 3-0 on his Senior Day.
  • Andrew Pavlisko (Maineville, Ohio) Hanover College | Forward | Sophomore - Andrew led the Panthers as they remained perfect in HCAC action, defeating Berea and Manchester; the lone Panther loss came to NCAA Division I no. 6-ranked Indiana. The sophomore had two goals and an assist for a combined five points.
  • Nick Phillips (North Ridgeville, Ohio) Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology | Midfielder | Sophomore - Nick Phillips helped lead Rose-Hulman to a 1-1 record where they defeated Earlham 4-0 and lost to Transylvania 2-0. In the win over Earlham, Phillips scored a game-high two goals which both came in the second half.
Defensive Players:
  • Braydon Kennedy (Garrett, Ind.) Anderson University | Goalkeeper | Sophomore - Braydon Kennedy saved 8-of-9 shots on the week as Anderson went 2-0. Kennedy recorded a 3-save shutout against Bluffton including one critical save. He then saved 5-of-6 shots against Berea with the only goal allowed being a penalty kick.
  • Eris Acosta (Houston, Texas) Berea College | Goalkeeper | Senior - Eris Acosta registered 4 saves in each of the Mountaineers games this week, allowing the team to stay in both competitions. His distribution from the back line prompted several strong attacks, resulting in good chances and an eventual goal for Berea against Anderson.
  • Colin Scheid (Lima, Ohio) Bluffton University | Defender | Junior - Scheid played all 180 minutes and was a key cog in the Beavers allowing just one goal as Bluffton split with Anderson and Franklin. He helped the Beavers post a 3-0 shutout of Franklin on a rainy Sunday after Anderson slipped by Bluffton 1-0 on Wednesday night.
  • Rodrigo Gutierrez Olvera Gonzalez (Ciudad de Mexico, Mexico) Hanover College | Goalkeeper | Senior - Gutierrez recorded three starts in frame playing 239 minutes with one shutout win. He added three saves and two clean sheets.
  • Aaron Smith (Cleves, Ohio) Mount St. Joseph University | Goalkeeper | Senior - Lions senior goalkeeper Aaron Smith made only his second start of the season against Earlham on Saturday as it was Senior Day for the Lions. He was outstanding, earning the clean sheet. He faced 13 total shots from Earlham, saving all four shots on frame.
  • Justin Burns (Tulsa, Okla.) Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology | Goalkeeper | First Year - Justin Burns helped lead Rose-Hulman to a 1-1 record where they defeated Earlham 4-0 and lost to Transylvania 2-0. In the win over Earlham, Burns recorded three saves leading to the shutout. He followed up that performance with four saves against Transylvania. Burns finished the week with seven total saves and a 77.8% save percentage.
