Stone Work Earns HCAC Athlete of the Week Honors for Second Straight Week

CARMEL, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) men's soccer teams competed in week nine of the 2025 season. In the second straight week, freshman, Stone Work has earned Athlete of the Week honors. In two conference victories to secure the HCAC Regular Season Title, Work scored three goals.

Offensive Player of the Week:
Stone Work (Honolulu, Hawai'i) Transylvania University | Striker | First Year - In a 2-1 win over Hanover, Stone Work scored the "go-ahead" goal as the Pioneers took a 2-1 lead into the half and maintained their lead in the second half to earn the first of two conference victories on the week. On Saturday, in a 5-0 win at Anderson, Work scored two goals in the victory. Transylvania claimed the 2025 HCAC Regular Season Title in the win.

Defensive Player of the Week:
Carson Sabers (Hamilton, Ohio) Mount St. Joseph University | Goalkeeper | First Year - Lions freshman keeper Carson Sabers did not allow a goal this week in a pair of games. Sabers played all 180 minutes in goal and stopped all 8 shots on goal he faced.

Offensive Players:
  • Tobore Takpor (Laplace, La.) Berea College | Forward | Junior - Tobore Takpor added to his season goal tally (8) with two more goals against Franklin on Saturday. Tobore gave the Mountaineers the lead in the 58th minute and secured the victory with his second goal in the 84th.
  • Josh Gleek (New Albany, Ohio) Bluffton University | Defender | First Year - Gleek found the back of the net off a William Clark corner in the final minute at Manchester on Wednesday, lifting the Beavers to a stunning 1-0 victory.
  • Andrew Pavlisko (Maineville, Ohio) Hanover College | Forward | Sophomore - Pavlisko led the Panthers as they posted a 1-1 week taking on Transylvania and Earlham. The sophomore had two goals and two assists for six points. He had five shots, four of which landed on goal.
  • Brady Diedenhofer (Newport, Ky.) Mount St. Joseph University | Forward | Sophomore - Lions sophomore forward helped the team to a 2-0 week, helping them clinch a spot in the HCAC tournament. Diedenhofer played 147 minutes this week, scoring three goals including the game winner in both games. He needed only five shots on the week to score those three, he scored on all three shots on goal he had this week.
  • Oliver Fila (New Rochelle, N.Y.) Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology | Midfielder | Junior - Oliver Fila helped lead Rose-Hulman to a 1-0-1 record, where they tied Anderson 0-0 and defeated Bluffton 3-0. He scored the opening goal against Bluffton, which came five minutes into the match.m, Phillips scored a game-high two goals which both came in the second half.
Defensive Players:
  • Eris Acosta (Houston, Texas) Berea College | Goalkeeper | Senior - Eris Acosta helped lead the Mountaineers to their first conference win and clean sheet this Saturday against Franklin. Acosta made 7 saves (6 of which came in the second half) to help secure the shutout.
  • Collin Scheid (Lima, Ohio) Bluffton University | Defender | Junior - Scheid played all 180 minutes and was a key cog in the Beavers allowing just one goal as Bluffton split with Anderson and Franklin. He helped the Beavers post a 3-0 shutout of Franklin on a rainy Sunday after Anderson slipped by Bluffton 1-0 on Wednesday night.
  • Rodrigo Gutierrez Olvera Gonzalez (Ciudad de Mexico, Mexico) Hanover College | Goalkeeper | Senior - Gutierrez led the Panthers in frame, posting a 2-1 week, taking on Manchester, Transylvania and Earlham. He posted a clean sheet in a win over Earlham and Manchester, finishing the week with four saves and a .667 save percentage.
  • Justin Burns (Tulsa, Okla.) Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology | Goalkeeper | First Year - Justin Burns helped lead Rose-Hulman to a 1-0-1 record, where they tied Anderson 0-0 and defeated Bluffton 3-0. He played all 90 minutes in both matches, recording a shutout in both games. He recorded two saves against Anderson, and followed that up with four saves against Bluffton. In the match against Bluffton, Burns made a phenomenal save on a penalty kick, and he finished the week with an average of three saves per game.
  • Jackson Holt (Elizabethtown, Ky.) Transylvania University | Goalkeeper | Senior - In a 2-1 win at Hanover, Holt recorded two saves in a full 90:00 in the goal for the Pioneers. In the 5-0 win at Hanover, Holt recorded a shutout with three saves.
