As one of the cornerstones of the great Transylvania men’s basketball squads of the early 1990s, Chris Huffman embodied the representation of a true student-athlete. In his junior season of 1992-93, Huffman was a force on the court, averaging more than 20 points and 8 rebounds per game, while leading his conference in free throw percentage.

After an impressive junior season, his senior season took an ominous turn as he was involved in a serious car accident which cost him the first four games of his season. Facing a choice to redshirt and come back at 100 percent the following season or battle his way back, Huffman’s dedication to his academics and teammates saw him return to the floor after missing four games to begin his senior season.

As Huffman battled through injuries and adversity, he was able to graduate in four years and also become a member of the 1,000-point club. His tenacity during his playing days and continued support of Transylvania Athletics afterward has made him a worthy member of the Pioneer Hall-of-Fame.
